Nancy– Thanks for the response. I will check Dan’s Oct 16 post and then Martin’s article and see for myself what gives.
The adversary is getting quite subtle these days, and I do not want to be taken in.
I esteem both these men and their efforts and hope that this difficulty may be resolved.
Regards
Erik
Erik – Just to give you some info on the subject – The writings of Sheridan became a concern to me with his October 16, 2014 article on the topic of “Is Heaven the Future Home of the Believer”, and October 17, “Is Heaven Our Future Home”. There may have been other things that led to concern (mine began with the above); these two articles were disturbing to me. Martin later addressed them in a ZWTF. I prefer to stick with the teaching of one who is mostly right rather than with one who is only occasionally right. Tip-toeing through that forest can be very perilous and I would not want to give such credence to that much error. God help Martin and all of us to see clearly as we proceed on this journey. My best regards to you.
Nancy– I just checked Sheridanvoice.com , but I can find no blog entries for either Oct 16 or 17, nor do any of the blogs or audios for that period seem to address that particular issue.
Now I’m really confused! :\
ignore my last post–i found it!
Erik
Which is why we should never put all our trust in one teacher, expositor, or leader.
I am a bit confused though about one thing.
Dan’s most recent postings do not give evidence of him turning from either the truth of God’s sovereignty or the salvation of all. Dan still, to my observation, seems to be solidly supporting both of these essential pillars of Paul’s glorious gospel.
I appreciate Martin’s concern for his long-time friend however.
Seller’s teachings must be sifted thouroughly and with scripture in hand.
Phillip – Martin acknowledged that Sellers had some things right, mixed in with the false. That is one of the most effective ways Satan has for deceiving people. Just enough truth to lead one to swallow the whole thing. It has been this way from the beginning.
I do not know how someone can take Martin’s concern for Dan Sheridan’s change in direction and assume it is a lack of love for him. I know Martin dearly loves Dan and is deeply saddened by this turn of events. There is no malice in what Martin said. As Martin explained, false doctrine has to be exposed to help others not fall into the pit. He feels that responsibility toward us, and to the great love he has for his dear friend, Dan. God bless them both.
Thank you Nancy for bringing this out, it is not Martin’s lack of love but his concern for Dan and for the rest of us, that he even opened up the topic.
Denise, Clyde is careful about what he quotes by Sellers. Not all of Seller’s teachings are bad. For example, his exposition of the rich man and Lazarus is spot-on because he did have a scriptural understanding of what death is.
Thanks for your comment Phillip!
Now Clyde is posting quips from Sellers??
Otis Sellers also believes that salvation is a choice. He does not teach Paul’s pattern! He does not rightly divide the Word between the gospel of Jesus vs. the gospel of Paul. He tell’s his students to read John for the pattern of salvation!!!
Lu it is. Thanks!
Thanks Kelly!
I prefer Lu.
Just type away, Luis. The comments don’t appear immediately – they have to be moderated and approved. Sad thing, but a necessary evil for now. Thanks for listening. Kelly Stokoe
