… and they only appear in 1Timothy (see below).

Now I know that we are to pray to God, but I’m not so sure that this changes what God has already intended to do, so I’m just a little bit suspicious of our being told, in Timothy to do this, approach God in a pleading manner?

2:1 Therefore, I beside-call firstly of~all [matters], to~petitions, to~prayers, to~pleadings, [and] to~thankings to be made over all men,

4:5 for through a~word of~God, and a~pleading it be sanctified.
